WINEWALL

Unfortunately Lancashire County Council has taken it on themselves as part of their long overdue surfacing works on Winewall Lane to deprive our village of the ancient cobbled flow off from the horse trough at the top of the hill and to replace this feature in our rural home with so far 6 black and white plastic bollards.

They argue that this run off which has been there in excess of 150 years has suddenly become a Health and Safety hazard and regardless of its great age and heritage value and had to make way for Tarmac and plastic.

Here are a few pictures to show what is replacing a charming and harmless piece of Winewalls history and the damage done to the dry stone retaining wall of the field.

If like us you feel that in this instance the Highway Authority has gone too far riding rough shod over our history please make use of the email link to Councillor Mike Calvert further below on this page.
